Oh Momsy, how I love you so...
I do not need that eye shadow set. $80 is way too much for a little thing of eye shadow, plus I have more than enough makeup. The people here don't really wear makeup anyways, so me and Sister Dixon hardly wear any. I'm so glad that Elder Matthews was able to send you those pictures... I got so excited when he told me when you got them. Isn't my companion super cutesy? I love her to death. Mom, we are the same person... and it is CRAZY. Litterally all the small stuff is the same with us. The way she eats, dresses, talks, and yeah. kinda creepy. She's hilarious too. It so wonderful knowing that Heavenly Father loves us so much, and Sister Dixon is proof that he really cares for me. She has helped me adjust to the living here and she's a huge comfort whenever I find myself missing home (which is almost everyday...). It'll get better though. I do love it here. I am in a small rinky-dinky town called Tompkinsville and it's the sticks of Kentucky. We have an awesome silver truck we get to drive around (because most roads are dirt roads... so yeah... be jealous) and we have a cute, little, white house that it wonderful. It has 2 bedrooms, a perfect sized study room, and a kitchen. The house is way old though, so during the night the sounds it makes are pretty frightening. The people here are wonderful. 98% of the people here are christian, and everyone here is open to hearing more about Jesus Christ... which is so beyond wonderful... there are, however, a fair-amount of people who dispise us, but that's okay. It wouldn't be a mission without it. I've been here 6 days now, and so far our days have been stock-full of investigator visits, less actives, and members. We have been able to get 6 baptism days set up, but everyone's problem is smoking... which is so sad, but we have a lovely system that helps people (the healty way) to get over smoking.
There is this wonderful family here and they're the Scott's (another great thing about Kintucky is that EVERYONE is somehow related... that's why we missionaries call it KIN-tucky... hehe). There's Amber, Derek, and their 4 kids Chandler, Pyper, Aiden and Ella. Derek used to be a stong member of the church, but he fell away after he started driving trucks. My companion and her previous comp. have been teaching them lessons once a week and they were truly progressing. 2 days ago, me and my companion went to go teach them the lesson about the temples and Sister Dixon was prompted to ask Amber if she wanted to be baptized and she said... wait for it... YES! Amber and her son Chandler, who is 9, are going to be baptized on January 18th and what's even more amazing, is that Derek is going to quit smoking so that he could be the one to baptize them. Amazing right?!
I will try to send pictures ASAP so I can show you all these amazing things. I love you.
Please share this email with the rest of the fam in the household. Give them each a hug and a spanking from Sister P.
